Carer Support
We are delighted to be hosting Mark Ralton, Carer Support Practitioner with VOCAL in our CIC Office 2 days per week. If you are an unpaid carer and feel like you need some support or assistance to continue carrying out your carer role please email Mark - [email protected]
CiC are also hosting the monthly carer support group, Connecting Carers (North East). The group will meet on the First Monday of the month to allow carers to meet others, share experiences and access information. This is a great way of meeting other carers and to feel supported by others who are in a similar situation, helping you feel more able to cope with your caring role. If you would like to know more or register to attend email Mark - [email protected] , you can also contact the CIC staff team who can discuss any caring difficulties you are facing, we are always here to help you.
Scottish Chamber Orchestra
Our new six week Reconnect Programme begins again on Friday 13th February 2026. Sadly this is our last block with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Reconnect Sessions at CIC. We have been been lucky and honoured to have the SCO Musicians with us over the past 5 years during their Craigmillar Residency, our members who live with Dementia have had so many wonderful experiences during the sessions and we will be sad to see them go, the musicians who attend CiC feel like an extended family of CIC and have brought so many touching moments and joy to our members over the years.
While we are sad that our time has come to an end we are delighted to report that the SCO have committed to assist CiC and other Craigmillar Residency Organisations to support a smooth transition, to use the skills, learning and connections made to grow collaborative opportunities together to provide ongoing opportunities to keep music activities alive in Craigmillar and continue to benefit all the people we support.
Evaluation - Shaping and Improving Our Service
At CiC we know that the key to successful participation lies simply in valuing the input of our members, their families and carers. Your engagement helps us to continue delivering successful services.
This process involves collecting feedback from as many people as possible to help us assess what we can do to further improve experiences for our members as well as taking on board any improvements that we need to make. We want you to actively participate in the running of the organisation by telling us what we do well and what we could do better.
We plan to start the year with a Carer Survey and our Annual Member Quality Assurance Survey, we will be sending these in early February. It would be greatly appreciated if you could take some time to complete the surveys as they help us to gather valuable information which allows us to learn and improve, please feedback anything you think we could improve, no matter how small. If there is anything you feel is not covered within the questions please us the space at the end of the survey to tell us.
Please always get in touch with us if you need to feedback or discuss anything at any time, not just when we send surveys, the staff team are always here to speak with you.
